General Opportunity with Academic Health System in Mid-Atlantic

An academic medical center in the Mid-Atlantic has an opportunity for a general neurosurgeon at a hospital in a rich outdoor area. Support for both experienced neurosurgeons and new graduates is available. The new neurosurgeon will be employed by the affiliated university.

This subsection of the hiring health system includes seven hospitals and several physician-led multispecialty medical groups with over 300 employed providers. It leverages the strengths of the dyad leadership model to advance patient-centric care and also invests heavily in physician leadership.

Serving patients from a 13-county region, this system has been recognized at the national and state levels for quality of care. This regional provider offers a wide array of services including cancer care, heart and vascular care/heart surgery, neurosciences including neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, OB/GYN, gastrointestinal services, behavioral health, physical rehabilitation, home care, long term care, assisted living and paramedic/ambulance services.

• Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
• Rehabilitation Institute is in-house and triple disease specific certified by Joint Commission in Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury and Brain Injury.
• Level II Trauma Center but call is light
• Heart & Vascular Institute
• BrainLab Navigation, C-Arm, and O-Arm. Budgeting for new neuro equipment available
• 24-Hour Emergency Department
• Mostly elective cases

Practice Highlights:
• Neurosurgeons work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals, including anesthesiologists, neurologists and rehabilitation specialists
• 80/20 spine practice
• Interests in spine, peripheral nerve, and tumors can be supported in the context of a general neurosurgery practice
• 10 days/call per month - call is very light and consultative. Rare for the neurosurgeons to come in at night, and less than 3 calls/week at night
• Curve Image Guided Surgery
• 8 Airo Mobile Intraoperative CT
• 6 Neuro-APPs help with patient rounding, clinic, OR, and 7am to 7 pm call
• Clinical faculty appointment available at University
