Academic Opportunity with Distinguished Midwestern Health System

A prestigious academic healthcare system in the Midwest is seeking a general neurosurgeon to join one of its comprehensive community hospitals. Interests in spine and skull base will be well supported in the context of a general neurosurgery position. The new neurosurgeon will be able to capture an outmigration of cases in a growing market. In addition to the clinical practice, the new neurosurgeon has an opportunity for a clinical faculty appointment at the university, resident, fellow, and medical student teaching opportunities, and collaborative research/trials.

This hospital is a Level II Trauma Center with nearly 200 beds that serves as a teaching hospital. According to U.S. News & World Report, it is one of the top hospitals in its state, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ranked it as in the top ten percent of hospitals nationwide for quality care.

• Case mix currently 50/50 spine/cranial. Opportunity to capture additional elective volume in spine and/or cranial. Case mix for new hires dependent upon interests
• Clinical Faculty appointment at University
• Walk into immediate volume with opportunity to grow the service line
• 1:5-6 call schedule for the new hire depending on timing of recruitment; PAs take first call
• 3 PAs on staff (with plans to hire 2 additional) who offer surgical assists, clinic assist, rounding on patients, and call coverage support
• Fellow, Resident, and Medical Student teaching opportunities available at main campus: Grand Rounds, Friday academic/teaching days, and other opportunities
• Block OR time available

• No pediatric cases
