Large Health System in Desirable Midwest Location Seeking Spine Deformity Leader

A large Midwestern health system is seeking an Endowed Chair of Spinal Deformity Surgery to join their flagship hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding spine surgeon to build and transform an interdisciplinary program striving to remain on the cutting edge of spinal deformity. Ideal candidates will have experience collaborating with interdisciplinary programs and will be prepared to explore and implement new trends, clinical advances, and collaborative ideas. The Endowed Chair will also be expected to mentor others, assist with recruiting and program growth, and be open to relevant research opportunities.

The organization's Neuroscience Center is a world-class center for brain and spine care, offering state-of-the-art technology and a team of experienced physicians. The Neuroscience Center, a 400,000-square-foot complex, allows patients to receive comprehensive neurosurgical care all in one building.

The hospital is a 1000+-bed, Level II Trauma Center. It is consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the nation, especially with regard to neuroscience care. The hospital keeps up to date with neurosurgery equipment, including a fleet of O-arms with Stealth navigation, an intraoperative MRI, and Zeiss microscopes, among other top-of-the-line technology.

Ideal Candidate:
· Formal fellowship training and 5+ years of experience in complex spine surgeries. Complex spine surgery fellowship preferred, with interest in spinal deformity surgery.
· Experience with collaboratively working as part of a multi-disciplinary spine team
· Knowledge, skills and desire to advance Spine program
· Competence in General Neurosurgery, covering Level II Trauma Center

Practice Highlights:
· Call is 1:8 and consultative in nature
· One half-day per week protected for Endowed-Chair-related work; otherwise time split between clinic and OR
· Immediate volume available
· Salaried endowment to be used as the leader sees fit
· Opportunity to grow market share, as local orthopedic spine groups are private and segmented
· 80/20 spine/cranial case breakdown
· Neurosurgery APP support available; ample support from inpatient APPs, who take first call
· OR features dedicated neurosurgery rooms with appropriately trained staff
· Opportunity to grow spinal deformity service line and capture untapped market
