Growing Healthcare System in Beautiful City with Low Cost of Living Looking to Expand Neurosurgery Program to New Hospital

A growing healthcare system in New York state is expanding its network and neurosurgery program to a newly built hospital. The program is interested in hiring two neurosurgeons who will assist in building the neurosurgery service line in a new city and collaborate with the existing team nearby. Interests in general neurosurgery, neurovascular, functional, spine, or tumors will be well supported.

The most comprehensive health system in its area, this is the region’s referral center across multiple specialties, including in the neurosciences. The health system boasts state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and strives to be an outstanding place for caregivers and patients alike.

Neurosurgeons admit to a nearly 400-bed, Level III Trauma Center that has just been built, as well as hospitals within the hiring health system that offer 350+ beds.

The newly finished hospital stands ready to support neurosurgical procedures, and is planning to acquire image-guided navigational equipment in the near future. The health system's hospitals offer all of the latest equipment for general, neurovascular, functional, spine, and cranial neurosurgical procedures. The health system's flagship hospital also functions as a teaching hospital, allowing interested providers to work with medical students.

Practice Highlights:
• 1:3 call schedule; call is compensated
• Supportive APPs who assist with rounds, consultations, admissions, and discharges
• Strong internal referral patterns through hospital's medical group, ED, and hospitalists
• Primary catchment area of 250,000 residents
• Block OR time
• Ability to take complex cases to the health system's main location; fully integrated with existing neurosurgery team
• Neurovascular candidates can expect an initial case mix of 10% endovascular with opportunity to grow; access to a Siemens Bi-Plane Angio Suite
• Candidates with interests in spine and cranial tumors can capture current outmigration
• Functional candidates may build a functional practice to serve patients at the primary and affiliated hospital and will receive strong hospital support. The healthcare system is launching a Focused Ultrasound program in Fall 2024, and fellowship trained Functional candidates will have opportunity to participate and lead the program; 2 epileptologists in town
