Due to an increase in volume, one of the leading healthcare systems in the Midwest is excited to recruit a neurovascular-trained neurosurgeon to their sophisticated team. Those with experience and newly trained graduates are encouraged to apply. Mentorship is readily available.
The hiring hospital is the flagship of the locally-owned and governed healthcare system. The hospital is a 400+-bed, all-private room regional referral center providing care in virtually every specialty. It is a Level I Trauma Center, it is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a comprehensive cancer program. The hospital is Magnet designated for nursing excellence and is nationally recognized for quality and patient experience. The hospital is also recognized as a Top Workplace by Forbes and Newsweek.
Cases can also be performed at a level III, 200+-bed, all-private room community hospital that is recognized by the Leapfrog Group as one of the country’s safest hospitals and that received the 2024 Surgical Excellence Award™ by Healthgrades.
Practice Highlights:
• Call will be 1:3.
• Monday through Friday APPs take first call and the hospitalist team does a fantastic job of managing ER patients; the neurosurgeons rarely come into the hospital.
• There are six APPs on staff to run clinic, round, and take first call during the day.
• A 65/35 mix of general and neurovascular cases is anticipated.
• Both hospitals are equipped with an O-Arm and Stealth. A Siemens Artis Zee biplane is embedded in the neurocritical care department. One of the IR single planes is slated to be upgraded to a bi-plane in 2025 and the current bi-plane is anticipated to be upgraded in 2026.
• Large internal referral base of employed primary care providers with a terrific catchment area of nine counties.
• Anticipated volume of 8k RVUs in year one, current surgeons are at the MGMA 75th percentile in productivity.
• 12 bed neuro-ICU with a 40-bed neurovascular unit where most neurosurgery/spine candidates go.
• Strong clinic culture; no regrettable MA or RN turnover in Neurosurgery since 2022.
• One of the highest performing EPIC hospitals in the country.
• Competitive compensation including starting bonus, relocation, CME and student loan forgiveness.
The area offers a diverse cultural opportunity, affordable real estate, and a major focus on education. The area is home to several international companies, cementing it as a scientific manufacturing hub. Abundant natural resources make it the perfect choice for recreational hobbies including year-round family attractions, events, and festivals!
